Chiropractic

Chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulation, uses gentle pressure and the weight of the body to restore joint mobility, alleviate pain, and ease muscle soreness. Chiropractic treatment is typically recommended for the following conditions:

  • Neck and back pain
  • Sprains of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee
  • Migraines and tension headaches
  • Carpal tunnel, sciatica and other neuropathies
  • Arthritic back and joint pain
  • Fall risk reduction, using balance training exercises and movement
  • Wellness and preventive care including pain management, fitness and weight loss

Patients may sometimes experience mild soreness after treatment (just like after exercise), but it usually goes away within 12 to 48 hours. Compared to other common treatments for pain management, such as over-the-counter or prescription medication, a chiropractor’s holistic approach offers a safe and effective option for many patients.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that involves inserting very thin needles through a person’s skin at specific points on the body to balance the body’s energy, or “chi.” The treatment is often recommended for the following conditions:

  • Neck and back pain
  • Osteoarthritis knee pain
  • Migraines and tension headaches
  • Spinal conditions
  • Irregular blood pressure
  • Digestive and menstrual pain
  • Tobacco cessation
  • Substance use withdrawal

Acupuncture is relatively painless, though some patients describe a brief tingling sensation when the needles are inserted. The needles remain in place between 10 to 30 minutes and rarely draw blood. With very few side effects, acupuncture is a safe and effective option for patients who want to improve their overall health from an Eastern approach.
