Outside In is now offering low-barrier, comprehensive reproductive health services at our East Portland Clinic!
We are so excited to announce that our East Portland Clinic is now a certified Reproductive Health Clinic with the State of Oregon! This program is dedicated to ensuring that all people in Oregon have access to high-quality, culturally-responsive reproductive and sexual health services, knowledge, and resources. This means that we provide the same services to all patients with reproductive capacity – including transgender men, intersex people, and gender nonconforming people – regardless of their immigration status or ability to pay. To be certified, clinics must provide high-quality services, based on national standards of care and aligned with evidence-based best practices and recommendations for comprehensive, client-centered, culturally-responsive care.
People have a wide range of reproductive health needs. According to the Guttmacher Institute, 99% of women who have ever had sex have used at least one contraceptive method, 86% of women give birth at least once, one in 10 people are affected by infertility or impaired fertility, more than 240,000 new cases of reproductive cancers occur each year, one in three people experience sexual or intimate partner violence, and half of sexually active people will contract an STI by age 25.
Sexual and reproductive health are central to people’s overall health and wellbeing. At Outside In, we believe that everyone deserves access to high quality, culturally-responsive, and comprehensive reproductive health care, and we know that there is a need for these services in the Rosewood neighborhood. As a certified Reproductive Health Clinic, we are now able to provide these services at no cost to our patients, ensuring that they remain accessible to everyone. Additionally, because gender-affirming care is integrated into the way we deliver care, transgender, intersex, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming patients will have a safe and accessible place to access the high-quality, reproductive health care they need and deserve.
