Hepatitis C can be treated!

Hepatitis C Information and Treatment

What is Hepatitis C?

Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C can range from a mild illness lasting a few months to a serious, long-term illness.

Hepatitis C is spread through contact with blood from an infected person. Most people become infected with Hepatitis C by sharing needles used to inject drugs.

The mortality rate from Hepatitis C in Oregon is twice the national rate, and deaths from Hepatitis C have tripled over the past 20 years.

Nearly half of new Hepatitis C infections in Oregon are seen in patients who are under 30 years of age, and the majority of cases are in people under age 40.

Outside In’s Medical Clinic Staff provide comprehensive, compassionate health care for all patients. We are accepting new patients, and we can treat teens, adults, and senior citizens.

How do I know if I have Hepatitis C?

It is recommended that everyone over the age of 18 be regularly tested for Hepatitis C. Only 50% of people know their status! You can ask your medical provider to be tested for Hepatitis C at your next visit.

What does treatment for Hepatitis C look like?

Hepatitis C can be treated! With a daily dose of medication, taken every day for 8-12 weeks, over 95% of patients will have the infection cured.

Treatment for Hepatitis C is covered by most insurances, including the Oregon Health Plan. There are no sobriety requirements to access treatment.
