Happy Birthday to us! Today marks the Summer Solstice; and 55 years since Outside In first opened our doors. To celebrate we’d like to share some bubbly…soap!
The wonderful Molly Lee (she/her), founder of Optimistic Soap, was driving by our downtown location last summer and saw a banner hanging out front that expressed our agency values. She liked what she saw, and after researching Outside In, she decided to donate proceeds from one of her artisanal soap sales to us. She did another round of soap fundraising in the fall, and one of our colleagues found her booth at an event and made the connection.
The development team at Outside In got in touch with her to express our gratitude and she asked if we would be interested in partnering to develop our own soap! She shared a number of scent options with us, and the development team coordinated with Outside In’s Happy Committee to get staff involved in picking the scent. After voting, we decided on a scent called “New Beginnings”—it’s very fresh, with citrus top notes and hints of sandalwood, vetiver and cedar.
Once the soap was poured, Molly and Outside In collaborated to ask our followers for name suggestions. We landed on a name recommended by a community member: Hope Soap!
Molly promised to donate $2 for every bar of soap sold, and thanks to our wonderful matching sponsors, we are currently at $1,425 in promised donations!
